About this work

We stand on ground others cleared

Everything on these pages is written here, in our own line of thought. Nothing is lifted. But no one comes to the Śrī Cakra unaccompanied: a figure this old is handed down, and every hand that held it left something in it. This page is where those hands are named.

The reading pages carry no credits on purpose. A commentary interrupted every third sentence by whose opinion it is stops being a commentary. So the debts gather here instead, in one place, where they can be acknowledged properly rather than dropped as footnotes.

To the teachers, to those who wrote before us, and to the tradition that kept all of it alive without asking anything in return — we prostrate.

The books we owe

Read, argued with, and in several places corrected against each other. Where they part company we say so on the page and leave both readings standing.

A word on secrecy

The Śrī Vidyā has been guarded, and there are parts of it — the intonation of the mantra, the initiation, the transmission from a living teacher — that no page can carry and none of these pages pretend to. What can be opened is the understanding: the geometry, the doctrine, the names, the order of worship, the reasoning behind them.

A power-form that belongs to everyone should not be kept in a corner. Whatever is ours to open, we open; whatever belongs to a teacher’s mouth and a student’s ear, we leave there.

Whatever is right here came from them. Whatever is wrong is ours.
